Some of my latest…

21 Mar

I  love making custom jewelry and accessories, especially for weddings.    I was ridiculously poor when I got married, so I totally understand planning a wedding on a budget.  My headbands, rings, earrings and necklaces make affordable, versatile bridesmaid gifts, and my cuff links are perfect for groomsmen gifts and look great in photos.

My Version Of Embroidery Hoop Wall Art

17 Dec

small hoop

I’ve been making things for years, so I have a backlog of unused supplies from my various phases of scrapbooking, cross stitching, painting, jewelry making, Etsy shop stuff, and the list goes on…

I have recently been loving the wall art I’ve seen using old embroidery hoops and fabric, and I love any excuse to use up old supplies, so I decided to mess around with that idea with the addition of the buttons I use in my Etsy shop.

Supplies needed: fabric, wooden embroidery hoops, glue, button covers (optional), scissors

1.  Choose your fabrics and cut them to the size needed for the hoops you are using.

2.  Secure fabric in hoop and tighten it so fabric stays in place.

3.  Turn the hoop over, trim off excess fabric (leaving enough to fold over the inside edge of hoop) and glue the overlap of the fabric along the inside edge of the hoop.  Wait for glue to dry

If you don’t want to add buttons to the front, you are done!

These could also be embellished with vintage buttons or pretty much anything you find visually appealing.

Cheap, fast and easy.

Easy Ikea Revamp

13 Dec

I bought this little chest of drawers at Ikea ages ago and used it to organize some of the things from my shop.  I think it only cost about $20, and it’s perfect for people like myself who are obsessed with organizing everything on earth into small drawers or tiny containers.

I’d always planned to try to give it some sort of facelift, but between my day job, Etsy and my demanding TV watching schedule, it never happened.  (I normally don’t write on my furniture with a Sharpie, but I was in a bit of a rush at the time.)

I’m on vacation currently, so I had a little extra time last night to mess around with Photoshop.

Turns out, acrylic paint + my logo + free font +  cardstock + spray adhesive = something I’m not horrified by.

I may eventually paint the rest instead of leaving it unfinished, but for now I’m done.  I’m pleased with the change in appearance being that it only took about an hour to complete.

Art Show…

6 Oct

My very first solo art show is approaching, and I’m excited and stressed and hoping at least a tiny handful of people show up to see my stuff.

I have a feeling the last Sunday in October is going to be here before I know it.

My logo…

6 Oct

I finally have my own logo!  (I actually got it a few months ago, but I hadn’t gotten around to posting it.)

The designer did a lovely job, and I am so proud of it, you’d think I made it myself.
